Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This privacy policy describes how the gistcap — YouTube Transcript Chrome extension (“the Extension”, “we”) handles your data. It applies to the Extension only.
Single purpose
The Extension has one purpose: to display the transcript of a YouTube video directly on the YouTube watch page, letting you click any line to jump to that moment, search the transcript, and copy it as plain text.
What data we collect
We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Specifically:
- No account, sign up, login, or email is required or collected.
- No tracking, no analytics, no advertising identifiers.
- No browsing history is collected, stored remotely, or shared.
- Your settings (such as the auto-load preference) are saved on your own device and never leave it.
- Transcripts may be saved on your device so they load faster next time.
How we use data
The only information the Extension handles — your settings and saved transcripts — is used solely to show, search and copy transcripts on YouTube. It is not used for anything else.
Data sharing
We do not share your data with anyone. We never sell it or use it for advertising, and we never share it with advertisers, data brokers or any other companies. The Extension works only on YouTube and nowhere else.
Children’s privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and any changes take effect once published on this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
